Contest management/jury committee:
Jan Jørgensen, TV 2/Bornholm
Allan Beyer, Melsted Trollingcenter
Anders Schou Jensen, The Bornholm Trolling Club

Registration of participation:
Registration fee:
750 DKK per boat, including skipper
150 DKK per crew member apart from skipper

All boats are to indicate the names and addresses of all participants.

All boats are to indicate size (length) in metres and centimetres as the boats are distributed in different harbour basins according to size. On this website, you can convert feet into centimetres if you do not know the length of your boat in centimetres.

The contest management has decided to let the contestants depart in two groups, partly in order to avoid traffic chaos, and partly to increase security during departures. Each day, the large boats will be the first to depart. Large boats are defined as boats of 6.5 metres or more.

Because of limited space in the harbour, a maximum of 300 boats can participate. The first 300 boats to pay a participation fee will be assigned a participation number confirming their participation. Numbers are consecutive commencing at 100. Consequently, the last number will be 399.

Your participation number will be handed out as a sticker to be placed visibly on your boat.

Participation numbers will also be hanging as number tags/start tags on a board at Tejn shipyard. To take part in the contest, the skipper or a crew member must get the number tag from the board.

Start tags can be fetched from the board at 6.30 a.m. (Wednesday, however, at 11.00) in connection with the skippers’ meeting.

Start tags must be handed in not later than 6.30 p.m. unless the contest management has shortened the contest.

If the start tag is handed in too late, no fish can be weighed for the contest day in question. This rule will be strictly enforced, and each day there will be photographic documentation of boats handing in their tags too late.

One of the contestants must be appointed skipper of the boat. Changes to the crew must be made not later than 11.00 a.m. on April 21. During the days of contest, no crew changes can be made. Exempted from this rule are 2-man boats affected by illness. Read more about this under Security.

Registration fee covers harbour dues at Tejn from Tuesday April 20 and including Sunday April 25.

With their registration, contestants accept to appear on the TV shows.

The jury committee may decide to introduce GPS-tracking of selected boats. The tracking is to be used in the evening’s TV-broadcast to show how the boats have been sailing during fishing.

Contestants may be excluded from the contest in case of:
- violation of rules
- attempts at cheating when weighing fish
- threats or violent behaviour towards contestants, organizers or TV 2/Bornholm staff.

Rules for fishing:
Do not forget that this is a trolling contest and that therefore the boat has to be in motion all the time during fishing.

A maximum of 10 rods, including spare rods, can be brought along on the boat and used at the same time.

If more than 10 rods are discovered onboard a boat, its results from the previous days will be cancelled.

A maximum of 10 baits may be used at the same time.

No planer boards, outrigger booms, or outrigger masts may be mounted on the boat. If such exist on the boat, they must be demounted or sealed. Sealing must be done by the jury committee so if you have such items on your boat, please contact us between 8 and 9 a.m. Wednesday April 21. Sealing will then be done before the 11 o’clock skippers’ meeting.

If after the start of the contest, equipment is discovered which should have been sealed, the results of that boat from the previous days will be cancelled.

Each morning, the jury committee will select a number of boats to be inspected for equipment on the Tejn harbour. If neither skipper nor crew participate in the skippers’ meeting, the referee will contact the boat by phone in order to carry through the inspection.

The jury committee is entitled to send one of its members fishing with one of the boats.

Danish legislation on fishing/trolling must be observed, e.g in terms of: Minimum dimensions. Fishing licence. Speedboat licence. The decree on fishing and trolling, including the special restrictions on distances to Bornholm and Christiansø etc. According to these rules downrigger trolling must take place at a minimum distance of one nautical mile from the coast.

Winners of prizes MUST be able to present valid fishing licence. Violation of the above will lead to immediate exclusion from the contest.

Rules for fish:
Salmon is the only fish included in the contest.

The minimum measure of fish being weighed is 72 cm.

A maximum of 6 fish per boat per day can be weighed.

Salmon weighing more than 12 kg must immediately after being caught be reported to the jury committee by VHF or phone, indicating the position in order to facilitate the TV broadcast. The TV management will then send out a camera crew on a boat in the hope of filming the struggle and landing.

Prizes for largest fish which can be won each day of the contest AND prizes for the total contest can only be won if the fish (provided it weighs over 12 kg) was reported to the jury committee. If the largest fish of the day' weighs under 12 kg, report to the jury committee is not required.

New:
The weighing of large fish (+12 kg) will be done during the live TV-transmission and not in the weighing tent. The large fish will be put aside and the first time they will be put on the electronic weigh is in the TV-show. This will be done to enhance the suspense in the TV-programme.

Prize-winning fish must be cleaned in the presence of a member of the jury committee immediately after the evening’s TV-broadcast.

Security:
All Danish security rules must be obeyed.

Emergency rockets and signal flares must be available on the boat.
The jury committee recommends that a minimum of 2 emergency rockets in the colours red and white and 2 signal flares in the colour red are available on the boat.

There must be a VHF radio onboard all boats, using channel 72 for communication.

The contest management can cancel a contest day if the weather is found too bad.

If the contest is cancelled on individual days, the winner will be found based on the fishing days/hours completed. On shortened days, a day prize will be awarded. On cancelled days, there will be no prize. Non-awarded prizes will not be transferred to subsequent contest days.

If all contest days are cancelled due to bad weather, prizes will not be awarded.

Registration fees will not be reimbursed.

For security reasons, there must be two contestants on each boat.

If a contestant on a 2-man boat falls ill before or during the contest, a substitute must be found so that there continue to be two participants present on the boat.

Participating boats are obligated to inform the contest management via VHF if the boat will not arrive in the harbour by 6.30 p.m. In case of failure by a participating boat to inform the contest management of any delay resulting in a rescue action, the boat will be liable to pay for this rescue action.

The contests:
Payment of all prizes will be made cash by cheque. Prize tax has been paid.

E.g. a salmon of 7.8 kg will yield 88 points.

Each evening, the best boat will be given a green flag to be mounted on the boat.
